Plans changed. When the girl reveals her monster's self, it was originally scripted as "ripping her face off". Some molds were made to test. Eventually, it turns to a gunshot effect.

Also because of the super-tight schedule, a tiny scratch wound on the protagonist's face could only be drawn with alcohol-activated paint (by the makeup artist) instead of a silicone transfer.
