The Ent ■ Stop-motion Puppet

In the backstory, the ent is an incarnation of a  young girl, whose soul has been "transplanted" on a Banyan in a cult ritual. Banyan is a strangler fig that grows its roots downward and envelops the host tree while also growing upward to reach into the sunlight. Chinese myth says once one of its roots touches the ground, the tree turns into an evil spirit. With this inspiration, we imagine the human sacrifice would be a girl in a spell circle being tightened by vines dropping from the air. For the character, she is her only support in the cruel world, therefore she is designed to be an ent with a hollow lower torso. The puppet is made of acrylic paint-tined latex casting from plaster molds, with aluminum wire as the armature. Sculpted in monster clay.
